Professor Clement Imbert
Dr. Clément Imbert is a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, The University of the West Indies (UWI). His expertise is in the areas of Materials Technology and Manufacturing Processes. He has been involved in steelpan research since 1972, has supervised several student projects and has published several reports and articles on the steelpan. He was the Engineer for the CARIRI project, which involved commissioning of a locally designed and built hydroforming press and field testing of the hydroformed steelpans.
He has also successfully demonstrated the pressing of steelpans using rubber pad forming. He was very instrumental in the development of the G-Pan and has coordinated tuning programmes for secondary school students and teachers as well as for established tuners. He is Coordinator of the UWI Steelpan Development Centre, Chairman of Birdsong Academy and a Director of Panland Trinidad and Tobago Ltd, a steelpan manufacturing company. He was a member of the Pan Trinbago Research Committee and the Foundation Board.
