Dr. Jefferson Foote
Dr. Jefferson Foote is a scientist-entrepreneur with an abiding interest in international development. Dr. Foote obtained degrees from Harvard and the University of California at Berkeley, both in Biochemistry, and completed his training as a postdoctoral fellow at Cambridge, UK. As an academic, Dr Foote was on the faculty of the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
As an entrepreneur, he cofounded Absalus, Inc., a Silicon Valley biotechnology company that is now part of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. He is author of 32 papers and holds three US patents. Dr Foote has followed pan since 1968, when he first organized a steelband in his junior high school. However, he comes to ICP in his capacity as editor of his late father’s book on national development (Nelson Foote, Sharing the Earth: A General Theory of Development, to be published this year).
